Press Release: SolTrans Celebrates Completion of Sereno Transit Center Beautification Project
Solano County, CA – Solano County Transit (SolTrans) is excited to announce the completion of the Sereno Transit Center Beautification Project, a transformative initiative funded through the Clean California Grant in partnership with Caltrans. To celebrate this major milestone, SolTrans will host a community event on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sereno Transit Center. All are welcome to attend and take part in the celebration!
Funded through the Clean California Grant awarded in October 2023, the project was part of a statewide $1.2 billion effort led by Caltrans to clean and enhance publicspaces, create jobs, and engage local communities.
The Sereno Beautification Project has revitalized the transit center through a series of impactful upgrades:
· Custom murals by local artist Melissa Penny (Malis Bee) and her team “The Hive”, featuring SolTrans buses, riders, and nature-themedartwork
· New landscaping to enhance the natural environment
· Solar-powered lighting in four shelters to promote sustainability
· Eleven pathway lights and four inground lights to improve safety and visibility
· A new shade structure to provide comfort and protection from the elements for waiting passengers
“The completion of this project is a reflection of our commitment to improving transit spaces for the community,” said Beth Kranda, Executive Director of SolTrans. “It’s morethan just beautification—it’s about creating a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment that serves as a point of pride for our community.”
SolTrans extends its deepest gratitude to Caltrans for their generous support and collaboration throughout the project. Their partnership was instrumental in bringing this community vision to life.
