Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring on my ride?

Bring your ADA Paratransit ID card and your $4.00 fare (cash, 10-ride pass or mobile app). If you use a wheelchair or scooter, make sure it's fully charged. Devices with dead or leaking batteries can't board.

When will my ride arrive?

Your ride is on time if it arrives within 15 minutes before or after your scheduled pickup. For a 12:00 pm pickup, be ready from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm. The driver waits up to 5 minutes after arriving, or after your pickup window starts, whichever is later. Please watch for the vehicle. Drivers won't honk or come to your door.

How do I cancel a ride?

Call (707) 648-4666 at least 1 hour before your scheduled pickup. If you cancel less than 1 hour before pickup, it counts as a no-show.

What is a no-show?

A no-show is when the vehicle arrives within your pickup window and you don't board within 5 minutes. A late cancellation also counts. We'll notify you in writing about each no-show. If you miss a ride, your later trips are not canceled automatically, so cancel any you won't take.

You may face a penalty if you have 3 or more no-shows in 30 days and they're more than 10% of your scheduled trips. The first time, you'll get a call and a warning letter. After that, suspensions start at 14 days and can reach 28 days. Penalties reset after 365 days. No-shows caused by things you couldn't control, or by our mistake, don't count against you. Call Customer Service to let us know.

Will I get updates about my ride?

If you sign up for trip notifications, you'll get a call or text from a Google Voice number with updates about your ride. That number only sends trip updates and isn't monitored, so call Customer Service at (707) 648-4666 if you need help.

Do I have to use the app?

No. You can always book by phone at (707) 648-4666, or online at (https://spare-rider-soltransparatransit-pro.vercel.app/)

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. A personal care attendant (PCA) rides free if your eligibility includes one. Companions pay $4.00 and can ride when there's room. Up to two children 5 and under ride free with you, and you need to bring any required car seats. Tell us who's riding when you book.

Can I bring my service animal or pet?

Service animals are always welcome. Pets and emotional support animals must be in a carrier. All animals must stay under your control.

How is paratransit different from the local bus?

The local bus runs on set routes and schedules, with no reservation needed. Paratransit picks you up at your address, but you book ahead and share the ride. Many riders use both.

Can I travel outside Benicia and Vallejo?

SolTrans Paratransit offers regional connections to WestCAT and Napa VineGO, and you can transfer to Solano Express buses. Call (707) 648-4666 for help planning your trip.

I'm visiting from outside the Bay Area. Can I ride?

Yes. With ADA paratransit certification from your home agency, you can ride up to 21 days a year. Call the Solano County ADA Eligibility Program at (707) 541-7184 a few days before your visit. Riders certified in any of the nine Bay Area counties can ride like local riders.

Can I set up regular rides?

If you travel to dialysis on the same days and at the same times, ask about subscription service. Your rides are booked for you automatically. Space is limited, so there may be a waiting list.

What if I need help getting from my door to the bus?

You can ask for a reasonable modification. Contact SolTrans Administration at (707) 736-6990.

I left something on the bus. What do I do?

Call Customer Service at (707) 648-4666, or use the Leave a Comment form at the bottom of any page on SolTrans.org. Include the date, time and where you traveled.

How do I file a complaint or an appeal?

For service comments, call Customer Service. For suspension appeals, reasonable modification requests, or ADA or civil rights complaints, contact SolTrans Administration at (707) 736-6990.
