New Bus Stop Signs Coming to SolTrans

Why Does My Bus Stop Look Different?

SolTrans is partnering with Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) on The Regional Mapping and Wayfinding Project (RMWP) to standardize public transportation signage throughout the Bay Area. Not only will SolTrans’ service look different beginning August 2nd with the Systemwide Redesign, so will all our bus stops. The project aims to make it easier for travelers to navigate and explore the Bay Area using public transit and connecting services. Whether residents are traveling by bus, train, or ferry, they use signs to navigate the journey. This project will simplify transit travel with unified signage and maps regionwide.

New bus stop signs features include the same common elements:

  • Gold header & bus icon
  • Bus Stop Name
  • Route numbers & destinations
    • Colors around each route number represents how often buses come (frequency) SolTrans has the following service frequency colors:
      • Dark blue- service every 16-30 min frequency
      • Medium blue- service every 31+ min frequency
      • White with blue outline Occasional routes i.e. school trippers and weekday only service
  • Transit agency information & Stop ID, if a stop is served by multiple agencies information for all agencies will be on the bottom band.
