SolTrans Acknowledges Route 40 and Route 70 Service Issues and Works Toward Immediate Improvements

Solano County, CA. SolTrans is continuing to monitor the implementation of its Systemwide Redesign and is working to make adjustments to Routes 40 and 70 to improve the reliability of afternoon service.

Staff have identified that afternoon travel times on the Routes 40 and 70 are currently taking longer than anticipated, which is causing afternoon trips to operate behind schedule. SolTrans recognizes the impact this can have on riders who depend on these routes to get to work, school, appointments, and other destinations on time. SolTrans is working on schedule and operational adjustments to address these issues and improve the service. Which also includes moving the service to a new location within Concord BART that will provide better experience for both passengers and operators. Because these changes require additional scheduling and operational coordination, it may take one to two weeks to develop and deploy the updated service. SolTrans is working as quickly as possible while ensuring that any changes made are sustainable and can be operated reliably.

"We are pleased with the overall direction of the Systemwide Redesign, but we also recognize where adjustments are needed," said Beth Kranda, SolTrans Executive Director. "Our afternoon timing on Routes 40 and 70 is not working as well as we intended, and we are committed to fixing it. We appreciate the riders who have taken the time to let us know what they are experiencing. Their feedback is helping us identify where we need to make changes."

While the Systemwide Redesign was developed through two years of data analysis, operational planning, and extensive community input, implementing a new network requires real-world experience to identify issues that may not be apparent until service is operating. SolTrans is committed to monitoring the routes closely and making adjustments where needed. SolTrans remains confident in the benefits of the Systemwide Redesign and is committed to making ongoing adjustments as the new network settles into operation. We appreciate the community's patience and partnership as we continue improving service.
